A racehorse belonging to Reza Zarrab, a Turkish-Iranian businessman who was arrested in the U.S. in 2016 over evading sanctions on Iran, had to leave his champion-style life in a hippodrome to live a more modest life on a simple ranch on the outskirts of Istanbul.

Turkish businessman Zarrab arrested in US on fraud charges

Reza Zarrab, an Iranian-born Turkish businessman who was acquitted in a vast Turkish graft probe in 2014 after 70 days in jail, has been arrested in Florida on charges of conspiracy to conduct hundreds of millions of dollars in financial transactions for the Iranian government or other entities to evade U.S. sanctions.

Watch-seller Yusuf Tutuş, the apparent dealer of the expensive watch that was allegedly given to former Economy Minister Zafer Çağlayan by Iranian-Azeri businessman Reza Zarrab, has said Zarrab would buy 20 to 30 watches worth more than 1 million euros annually to give as gifts.
