Bulgaria: A Car with Illegal Migrants Crashed and One Person has Died
One illegal migrant died and more than ten others were injured after a car overturned in a ravine near the Aldomirovo swamp in the Dragoman region. The incident happened around midnight. According to initial information, an attempt was made to stop the car with the migrants by Border Police teams. However, the driver refused to obey and crashed in his attempt to escape.
Ballot boxes to be set up in 15 more countries
The Supreme Election Board (YSK) has announced that ballot boxes will be established in 15 more countries in the elections to be held on May 14, YSK President Ahmet Yener has announced.
YSK decided to set up ballot boxes in 21 overseas representations in 15 countries, in which Turkish citizens did not cast vote in previous polls.

Illegal migrations up almost fourfold in first two months
In the first two months of 2023 Slovenian police processed 5,162 foreigners who crossed the national border illegally, which is almost four times more than in the same period of 2022. The largest source country was Afghanistan, accounting for a fifth of the total, the latest police statistics show.
Banned from school, Afghan girls turn to madrassas
In a madrassa in the Afghan capital, rows of teenage girls rock back and forth reciting verses of the Koran under the watchful eye of a religious scholar.
The number of Islamic schools has grown across Afghanistan since the Taliban returned to power in August 2021, with teenage girls increasingly attending classes after they were banned from secondary schools.

Russia received an Invitation to Play in the Central Asian Football Association
Russia has been invited to participate in the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) championship in June, Reuters reported. This comes amid speculation that the Russian Football Union may switch to the Asian Confederation (AFC).
Russian football has been sanctioned by the European Football Federation (UEFA) as well as FIFA, but is seeking a return to international competition.

An Afghan doctor who studied medicine in Türkiye has been awarded the "International Women of Courage Award" for her work with migrants.
Zakira Hekmat, the founder of the Afghan Refugees Solidarity Association, is a physician who has been working with migrants for 14 years.
