REJECTED Kosovo failed to become a member of UNESCO

UNESCO has not accepted Kosovo as a member; the proposal failed to gain a two-thirds majority at the organization's General Conference in Paris on Monday.

142 countries voted - 92 in favor, 50 against, while 29 abstained. Pristina's bid required 95 votes in favor to be successful.

 

EU-Swiss accord to end banking secrecy, curb tax evasion

The European Union and Switzerland signed a major accord on May 27 that will end banking secrecy for EU residents and prevent them from hiding undeclared income in Swiss banks, the European Commission said.

The agreement deals "another blow against tax evaders, and (represents) another leap towards fairer taxation in Europe," said Pierre Moscovici, the EU commissioner for tax issues.

Tourist Destinations in Bulgaria To Be Listed on Register

Bulgaria ranks at the 20-th position in the global Net Index Explorer for broadband internet accessibility and speed.

The survey was presented by Bulgaria's Society for Electronic Communications (SEC).

The leaders in the rankings are Hong Kong, Singapore, Romania, South Korea, Lithuania, Sweden, Switzerland, Macao, the Netherlands and Andorra.
