Property value in Greece plumets, Eurostat data shows

Greece is in the bottom 3 countries with the highest rate of fall in housing prices over the first half of 2016, according to Eurostat. The data shows that Cyprus has suffered the highest drop in property value. The average prices of houses in the Eurozone have gone up by 2.9%, and 4% in the EU for the second quarter of 2016, compared to last year over the same period.

Hungary Indicts 7 Bulgarians Over Death of 71 Migrants

Hungarian police announced that it will charge seven Bulgarians and an Afghani male after it concluded the investigation of the death of 71 migrants discovered in a truck in Austria last year.

The investigators reckon the Afghani man was at the head of the gang. He and the seven Bulgarians were arrested because of the tragedy which became notorious all over Europe.

Austria Opens Honorary Consulate in Bulgaria's Burgas

The Bulgarian government has given the green light for Austria to open its honorary consulate in Bulgaria.

Based in Burgas, by the Black Sea, the consular service will also cover the other two coastal regions to the north, namely Varna and Dobrich.

Radostina Ivanova-Mishineva has been approved as an Honorary Consul, according to a cabinet decision dated Wednesday.

Austria will not send military personnel to Bulgaria and Serbia for the defence of their borders from migrants, stated Austrian Federal Minister of Defence Hans Peter Doskozil, cited by Die Presse.

According to him, assistance will not be provided because this is impossible at the moment due to the existing legal situation.

Bulgaria Govt Not Commenting on Reports of 'No Oil and Gas' in Khan Asparuh

Bulgaria's Deputy Energy Minister Zhecho Stankov has refrained from elaborating on reports that an offshore gas exploration at the Black Sea block of Khan Asparuh found no deposits.

"The information as to whether there are oil and gas is to be processed and passed on to the Ministry of Energy," Stankov has told the Bulgarian National Radio.
