Draft amendments to Bulgaria's Criminal Code have been put forward that will see the introduction of tough measures against people smugglers and their accomplices.

The remains of a second of 43 missing Mexican students have possibly been identified, authorities said on Sept.16, almost a year after a crime that rocked President Enrique Pena Nieto's administration.

Written in Arabic, the pocket-sized guide book contained tips, maps and phone numbers of organizations. The booklet’s idyllic cover featured a photo of a young man gazing at the sunset on the beach with oars at his feet as he prepared to make the perilous crossing.

The two-decade-old era of border-free travel in Europe was unravelling on Sept. 14 as countries imposed controls on their frontiers in response to an unprecedented influx of migrants. 

Austria will introduce temporary border controls, Austrian Interior Minister Johanna Mikl Leitner has said.

She specified that her country will, like Germany, due to the current refugee crisis introduce "temporary border controls."
