Bulgaria Received USD 830 M in Remittances from Turkey in 2014

Bulgarian migrants working in Turkey sent some USD 830 M (EUR 732 M) back home in 2014, much more than the sum flowing from the next "top 11" countries in the list combined, data from the TIME magazine shows.

The amount of roughly BGN 1.430 B is equal to about 1.7% of the country's GDP.

Disturbing footage emerged of the way migrants are being treated inside Hungary's main refugee camp on the border with Serbia.

The images "showing families fed like animals in a pen" were shot secretly by an Austrian volunteer who visited the Roszke camp on Wednesday.

 

EC Prez. Juncker proposed number of refugees per each EU country

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker speaking at Strasbourg Wednesday called on EU member states to receive a portion of the refugees currently in Greece, Italy and Hungary, by presenting a proposal with the number he believed should be relocated to each country. According to the Commission’s estimates there are currently 54,000 in Hungary, 50,400 in Greece and 15,600 in Italy.

Refugee Crisis: European Commission takes decisive action

Delivering on the European Agenda on Migrations from May, the European Commission is putting forward a comprehensive package of proposals which will help address the refugee crisis that EU Member States and neighbouring countries are facing, including by tackling the root causes making people seek refuge in Europe.
