Maze denies Austrians for second title

Slovenia's Tina Maze continued her quest to win five medals, clinching gold in the super combined Feb. 9 at the World Ski Championships to spoil Austria's bid for a podium sweep.
      
The 31-year-old World Cup points leader added to her medal haul at the worlds, which includes gold in the downhill and silver in Super-G.
     

Stefanovic: Police presence at border stepped up

BELGRAD - Serbian, Hungarian, Austrian and German police officials agreed in Belgrade on Monday to increase cooperation in preventing illegal migration.

The agreement was reached by Serbian Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic, German Federal Police chief Dieter Roman, Hungarian National Police chief Karoly Papp and a delegation of the Austrian police.

Proposed Gas Hub in Bulgaria to Cost EUR 2.2 B, PM Borisov Says

Building a gas distribution centre in Bulgaria to serve South Eastern Europe and the EU would cost EUR 2.2 B, Prime Minister Boyko Borisov said on Monday.

Addressing the first meeting of the high-level group on the construction of gas links in Central and South Eastern Europe, Borisov said that Bulgaria is offering a number of advantages that make it suitable for becoming a gas hub.

Tsipras optimistic of eurozone deal after meeting Austria's Faymann

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said on Monday that he is ?very optimistic? that an agreement with the eurozone can be found, starting with Wednesday?s Eurogroup.

"It's in everyone's interests to reach mutually beneficial solution,? he said after meeting Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann in Vienna. ?That's why I am very optimistic"

Gudenus: U.S. responsible for wave of Kosovo refugees

VIENNA - A wave of refugees from Kosovo, which currently poses a problem for Western Europe, proves that the secession of Kosovo from Serbia and its hasty recognition was a mistake, said Johann Gudenus, vice chairman of the Freedom Party of Austria (FPO).

Kosovo is not a war or crisis region, yet several thousand people from the area are at the Austrian borders, said Gudenus.

PM Tsipras to meet with Austrian Chancellor Faymann

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has travelled on Monday to Vienna to meet with Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann. The meeting was arranged at the invitation of the Austrian chancellor and is scheduled to take place at 13:00 (Athens time).

The Greek Prime Minister is expected to be briefed on the Austria's employment policy and to return to Greece on the same day.

Fed Cup: Serbia books place in World Group II play-offs

BUDAPEST - Serbian Fed Cup team secured a place in the World Group II play-offs after defeating Croatia 2-0 in the promotional play-off decider.

Aleksandra Krunic won the tie for Serbia, storming past Donna Vekic 6-1, 6-1. In the first match, Serbia's Ivana Jorovic outlasted Croatia's Ana Konjuh 6-3, 2-6, 7-5.
