Bosnian News Websites Struggling to Secure Future

Bosnian news websites need to solve two outstanding issues that jeopardise their future, experts and journalists told a conference organised on Thursday in Sarajevo.

Speakers at the conference pointed out that no proper solution had been found to ensure a stable source of income for these media, or protect their authors' copyright.

Bosnia Urged to Use Property Seized From Criminals

Bosnia needs to better regulate the destination of property seized as a consequence of criminal activities, experts say, arguing that this would also have a positive impact in the fight against organised crime.

While no law defines this issue at national level, laws exists at the level of the country's two entities, the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska.

Vienna airport suspends "IS sympathizer from Bosnia"

An unnamed man originally from Bosnia-Herzegovina, employed by Vienna's Schwechat airport, has been suspended for being "a sympathizer of Islamic State."

This discovery came after Belgian police unions warned, in the wake of last month's terrorist attacks in Brussels, that "supporters of Islamic State can be found among the employees of airports across Europe."

Bosnians' Illegal Weapons Endanger its Security

Bosnians possess a worrying quantity of firearms, which potentially pose a threat to the country's security, a Bosnian arms expert told BIRN on Tuesday.

"There are at least 750,000 illegal firearms in Bosnia ... which basically means that statistically at least 20 per cent of Bosnian residents are armed," Armin Krzalic, director of the Center for Security Studies in Sarajevo, said.

International Dance Festival in Thessaloniki

Thessaloniki Dance Festival will be held on 9 and 10 April at the at the Congress Center “I.Vellidis “and Pavilion 12 of Thessaloniki for second consecutive year.

More than 1,500 dancers from 33 countries will participate in the TDF among them athlete-dancers from Romania, Russia, Britain, Germany, Italy, Serbia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Bosnia, Spain, Cyprus, Greece and others.
