A decision by Education Minister Aristides Baltas to abolish the country?s only three English-language undergraduate faculties, in spite of the fact that foreign universities have expressed strong interest in the courses, is to be discussed at a session of university rectors on Friday.

Canada Easing Visa Regime for Bulgarian Visitors from 2016

Armenian church in Turkey's southeast awarded EU cultural heritage award
The Armenian Church of Surp Giragos in Turkey?s southeastern province of Diyarbakir has been awarded the Prize for Cultural Heritage by the European Union.
?This church should be known all around the world,? the head of the Surp Giragos Church Foundation, Ergün Ay?k, said April 22.
The church was built in 1376 and restored in 2011.

Ponta, after announcement on Canada visa regime relaxation: I am positive we shall make progress with U.S.
Prime Minister Victor Ponta on Wednesday, in the context of the relaxation of the visa regime for Canada starting 2016 said that he is positive that progress will be made, too, concerning the visa regime with the United States of America, after the U.S. elections next year.

U.S. Ambassador to represent Washington at Gallipoli commemoration
The U.S. ambassador in Ankara, John Bass, will represent his country in the commemoration ceremonies for the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Gallipoli, U.S. Embassy spokesperson Joe Wierichs told Hürriyet Daily News.
PM Ponta: Canada relaxes visa regime for Romanians from 2016
The Romanian citizens who have held a Canadian visa in the last ten years or who hold a U.S. non-immigrant visa will no longer need to apply for a Canadian visa, shows a letter sent by Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper to his counterpart Victor Ponta.

Dignitaries to flock to Gallipoli anniversary
Turkey will host leaders from all corners of the world when it holds commemorations for the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Gallipoli April 24-25.
The heads of state for 20 nations will be in attendance, while two parliament speakers, three vice presidents, five prime ministers and around 20 ministers will also attend the ceremonies.

US and Chinese investors buy Cirque du Soleil
American private equity firm TPG and China's Fosun on April 20 bought Canadian entertainment juggernaut Cirque du Soleil for an undisclosed sum as the carnival looks to expand in Asia.
The circus troupe's founder Guy Laliberte retains a small stake of the Montreal-based company he started in 1984 and will continue providing "strategic and creative input."
