Experts warn of potential stronger earthquakes in Chile, after an 8.2 magnitude quake killed at least 5 people on Tuesday night.
"This magnitude 8.2 is not the large earthquake that we were expecting in this area", California geophysicist Mark Simons told CNN.

Six dead as 8.2M earthquake hits Chile
CHILE -- Six persons have been confirmed dead as a consequence of a strong earthquake that hit northern Chile on April 1.
According to the USGS, the 8.2 magnitude quake occurred at the depth of 20.1 kilometers. Its epicenter was 83 kilometers northwest of the town of Iquique.

8.2-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Northern Chile, at least 5 Dead
A powerful magnitude-8.2 earthquake struck off Chile's northern coast late Tuesday, triggering landslides and a tsunami and killing at least five.
Chilean Interior Minister Rodrigo Penailillo, as cited by the CNN, informed that the death toll included four men and one woman, two of whom had died due to cardiac arrest and three had been crushed to death.
Magnitude 6.2 Earthquake Rocks Chile
An earthquake with a 6.2 magnitude has rocked Chile's northern coastline, but no damage has been reported.
No tsunami warning is to be issued for now, Al Jazeera has reported.
Earlier this week, a 6.7-magnitude earthquake shook Chile’s northern Pacific shore on Sunday, causing the evacuation of more than 100,000 people.

A 6.7-magnitude earthquake shook Chile’s northern Pacific shore on Sunday, causing the evacuation of more than 100,000 people.
The US Geological Survey originally reported the quake at 4.16pm at a depth of 20km with epicenter of 60km northwest of the Chilean port of Iquique.
