Angola to send forces to conflict-torn DR Congo

Angola said on Saturday it will send a military unit to the Democratic Republic of Congo, after a ceasefire it brokered between rebel militiamen and government troops collapsed.

The DR Congo's restive east has witnessed a flare up in violence since a militia called M23 took up arms again in late 2021, going on to capture swathes of territory.

The International Foundation for Planned Parenthood (IPPF) has sent 2,880 packs of "sex pills" to Ukraine. Women and girls who have been sexually abused by the Russian army need emergency contraception. In early April, the Ombudsman of Ukraine Lyudmila Denisova announced 9 officially declared cases of women who were pregnant after being raped by Russian soldiers.

Erdoğan cuts short Africa visit amid Ukraine crisis

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Feb. 22 cut short his trip to Africa, his office said, as the Turkish leader stepped up diplomacy over the crisis between Russia and Ukraine.

Russian President Vladimir Putin defied Western warnings and approved sending troops into eastern Ukraine on Monday to support two rebel regions' independence claims.

Turkish president in Italy to attend G20 summit

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan arrived early on Oct. 30 in Rome to attend the 16th G20 summit. 

Erdoğan was welcomed at the Fiumicino-Leonardo da Vinci International Airport by Ankara's Ambassador to Rome Ömer Gucuk and Vatican Ambassador Lutfullah Göktaş, as well as the staff of the Rome and Vatican embassies.
