Greek 'Survivor' contestants hurt in accident

Two contestants on Skai TV's hit reality show "Survivor" were injured in a road accident on Thursday in the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean, where the game is taking place.

One of the contestants, Irini Kolida, broke three ribs and has abandoned the game and will return to Greece, reports said.

The other player, Marios Priamos Ioannidis, sustained a neck injury.

Turkey, Dominican Republic agree to boost tourism ties

Turkey and the Dominican Republic have agreed to boost cooperation on tourism, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said during a visit to the Caribbean state on Feb. 2.        

Speaking in a joint news conference following a meeting with his Dominican counterpart, Miguel Vargas, Çavuşoğlu said the agreement aimed to increase tourist flow.        

Turkish FM's Latin America tour 'to boost ties'

Turkey's ambassador to Argentina on Jan. 30 hailed the political and economic importance of Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu's four-nation South American tour this week.        

Meral Barlas said Argentina has the third-biggest economy in South America and stressed the importance of numerous areas where Turkey can have an economic relationship with Latin America.        

Over 100 migrant arrivals recorded on Greek islands in 24 hours

A total of 112 migrants and refugees landed on Greek shores in the first 24 hours of the new year, with 46 arriving on the eastern Aegean island of Chios and another 66 on Samos.

According to the ANA-MPA news agency, 25 Syrians, 12 Algerians, four Nigerians, two Palestinians and one each from Iraq, Cameroon and Yemen, landed on the shores of Chios between Sunday and Monday morning.

Hurricane Matthew has strengthened as it moves slowly towards Florida, and is set to be the strongest storm in the US for 12 years.
With winds of 125mph (205km/h), it is expected to hit Florida early on Friday as a Category Four storm.
At 20:00 local time (01:00 GMT), it was 75 miles offshore of West Palm Beach.

Turkish Airlines cancels flights to and from Miami due to Hurricane Matthew

Turkish Airlines suspended a flight from Istanbul to Miami and a flight from Miami to Istanbul on Oct. 6 as deadly Hurricane Matthew is expected to hit the U.S. coastal city.

Turkish Airlines announced the suspensions on its website amid anticipations that the hurricane was about to hit the city.
