Romania Plans to Bolster Army After Budget Hike
Romania's Defence Ministry presented its 2016 activity report under intense scrutiny concerning how it intends to spend its new increased budget.
Defence Minister Daniel Les said Romania's armes forces remained in urgent need of new equipment due to under-funding over several years.
In 2016, Romania bought its first F-16 Fighting Falcon jets, he noted.

Bulgarian, Romanian Migration to UK Hits Record High
Overall annual net migration to the UK by September 2016 stood at 273 000 people, falling by 49,000 people compared to the same period in 2015, the latest migration data revealed by the Office for National Statistics, ONS, shows.

Croatia also wish to "contain Russia"
Croatia will this year send a battery of multiple rocket launchers to Poland, and 120 soldiers and eight armored vehicles to Lithuania next year.
They will be taking part in the military deployments dubbed "Operation Enhanced Forward Presence," led by Americans and headquartered in Orzysz, Poland, and in Rukla, Lithuania, Sputnik is reporting.

Greece among only 3 NATO members that pay their share
Despite it being on the verge of bankruptcy, Greece is one of the 3 countries among the 28 NATO members-states that covered the 2% limit of GDP on military spending in 2016, in accordance to the military alliance’s provisions. The other two countries in the North Atlantic alliance that covered the 2% quota were the US and Estonia.
Serbia knock Estonia out of FED Cup
TALLINN - Serbia defeated Estonia 2-1 in Round 1 of the Euro/African Zone Group I of the Fed Cup on Wednesday.
Serbia won after over two hours of play in the doubles match, in which Ivana Jorovic and Nina Stojanovic overcame Anett Kontaveit and Maileen Nuudi 6-4, 1-6, 7-5.

The European Commission will conduct a market survey before deciding finally whether to fine Russian company Gazprom or make a deal with it, stated European Commissioner for Competition Margrethe Vestager.
Coface Improves Bulgaria's Risk Rating
Bulgaria's rating is upgraded from B to A4, in a 2017 forecast of Coface the global trade credit insurer.
Bulgaria is one of six European countries whose assessment has been upgraded in the quarterly update to its assessment for 160 countries.
The recovery "is confirmed thanks to moderate growth and the continued consolidation of the banking sector there."

State Debt Decreases in EU, Bulgaria in Q3 2016
State debt in the entire European Union and the Euro zone has decreased as a percentage of GDP in the third quarter of 2016, showed Eurostat data.
The level of state debt in Bulgaria also marked a drop, compared to the second quarter, in spite of the fact that debt increased on an annual basis (compared to the third quarter of 2015).
