‘Independent Schools’ could be an option for the future of Greek education

In an effort to avoid the 23% VAT hike for private schools, a new innovative idea being explored by the government is the creation of ‘independent schools’ that would be governed by an elected board of governors and be privy to the regulations and conditions that apply to state-funded schools.

Bulgaria Climbs to Third Place in European Volleyball Ranking

The Bulgarian men's national volleyball team climbed two positions in the latest ranking of the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) and currently occupies the third place.

Bulgaria's progress in the ranking is due to the fourth place claimed by the team at the men's volleyball European Championship, which took place in Bulgaria and Italy between October 9 and 18.

Russia helping fight against terrorism with consent of Iraqi gov't: Lavrov

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Oct. 14 Moscow was helping the fight against Islamist insurgents in Iraq with the consent of the Baghdad government. 

"It is necessary to support the cooperation between the Iraqi government and the Iraqi Kurdistan in the fight against terrorism, but we are doing it with the consent of the government," he said.
