Jacob Desvarieux, the Guadeloupean co-founder of Caribbean band Kassav' which shot to global fame in the 1980s by creating the fast-beat zouk music style, has died of COVID-19.

Romania to cap prices of calls to EEA countries as from May 15
Fixed and mobile calls made from Romania to any country within the European Economic Area (the EU countries, plus Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein) will not exceed 0.19 euro (excluding VAT) per minute, or 0.06 euro for a text message starting May 15, 2019, Romania's National Communications Regulation and Administration Authority (ANCOM) reported on Monday.
Turkey issues travel warning over Hurricane Maria
The Foreign Ministry issued a warning for Turkish citizens traveling to regions affected by Hurricane Maria on Sept. 19.
Maria, which has intensified to a Category 5 storm in the last 24 hours, hit Puerto Rico on Sept. 20 after battering Dominica overnight.

Hurricane Maria grows on Irma's path
Maria was forecast Sept. 17 to surge to major hurricane strength as it nears the storm-battered eastern Caribbean with 140 kilometer per hour winds, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said, on a path similar to that of mega storm Irma earlier in the month.
Storm warnings and watches went up in many of the Caribbean islands still reeling from Irma's destructive passage.

Hurricane Maria to Become Major Storm Near Caribbean Islands
Maria is expected to become a dangerous major hurricane as it nears the Leeward Islands in the Caribbean, reported BBC.
The category one hurricane will rapidly strengthen over the next 48 hours and will hit the islands late on Monday, the US National Hurricane Center says.
It is moving roughly along the same path as Irma, the hurricane that devastated the region this month.

Hurricane Irma has destroyed buildings and caused major flooding on several French island territories in the Caribbean.
The four "most solid" buildings on Saint Martin, shared by France and the Netherlands, were destroyed, French Interior Minister Gérard Collomb said.
Power cuts there and on Saint Barthélemy disrupted communications.
