NATO's Stoltenberg says N. Korea's 'reckless behavior' requires global response

North Korea's "reckless behavior" is a global threat and requires a global response, the head of the NATO military alliance said on Sept. 10.

NATO is not directly involved in the crisis, which saw Pyongyang carry out its sixth and most powerful nuclear test a week ago, but has repeatedly called on North Korea to abandon its nuclear and ballistic missile programs.

US bombers fly over Korea in show of might

Two U.S. supersonic bombers and four stealth jets soared over the Korean Peninsula on Thursday in a powerful display of military might after North Korea fired a missile over Japan and renewed a threat to target the waters near Guam.
The aircraft also conducted precision strike drills over the Pilsung range in a mountainous area of South Korea in an unprecedented combined maneuver.

North Korea’s state-run TV channel has revealed footage of Tuesday morning’s missile launch over Japan.
The announcement claimed that firing the missile was “the first step” of Pyongyang’s military operations in the region and repeated threats against the US territory of Guam, which it branded “an advanced base of invasion”.

North Korea says missile over Japan was 'first step'

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has called on Aug. 30 for more ballistic missile tests targeting "the Pacific," according to Pyongyang's state-run.

He personally oversaw the launch of a projectile over Japan early Tuesday morning Korean time, prompting Tokyo to condemn the test as an "unprecedented threat."

North Korea launches three short-range missiles

North Korea on Saturday morning fired what are believed to be three short-range ballistic missiles, one of which exploded shortly after launch, the U.S. Pacific Command said.

The missiles were launched near Kittaeryong between 6:49 a.m. Seoul time (5:49 pm. Friday ET) and 12:19 p.m. The second missile “appears to have blown up almost immediately,” Pacific Command said.
