North Korea has increased its efforts to produce parts for a new nuclear reactor it is building while continuing to operate the main existing one that provides fuel for its atom bombs, the U.N. nuclear watchdog has said in an annual report on Friday, Reuters Reported.

American President Donald Trump has spoken of raining "fire and fury" on North Korea after Pyongyang, having tested missiles that could potentially hit US interests, announced that it was looking at a strike at the US Pacific territory of Guam. Sabre rattling is a part of the fraught ties between the two countries.

Russian nuclear-capable strategic bombers have flown a rare mission around the Korean Peninsula at the same time as the United States and South Korea conduct joint military exercises that have infuriated Pyongyang.

The US has imposed sanctions on a dozen Russian and Chinese companies and individuals it accuses of helping North Korea's nuclear weapons programme, reported BBC.

It comes after the UN Security Council, including Russia and China, voted for further sanctions against Pyongyang.

The Indianapolis was destroyed returning from its secret mission to deliver parts for the atomic bomb which was later used on Hiroshima, reported BBC. 

The US warship was discovered 18,000 feet (5.5km) beneath the surface.

Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, who led the civilian search team, said the discovery was "truly humbling".

There will be no war on the Korean peninsula, South Korean President Moon Jae-In said on Aug. 17, saying Seoul effectively had a veto over the United States military action in response to the North's nuclear and missile programmes.

North Korea’s dramatic leap forward in ballistic missile capability has its origins far beyond the Korean peninsula, experts believe: in Russian technology that may have been acquired from a factory near Ukraine’s restive east, although the timing for any transfers is not clear.

North Korea's leader has delayed a decision on firing missiles towards Guam while he watches U.S. actions a little longer, the North's state media said on Aug. 15, as South Korea's president said Seoul would seek to prevent war by all means.

North Korea's leader Kim Chen Un said he was postponing the planned missile strike near Guam, but warned he would shoot if there were still "reckless actions" from the United States, AFP quoted FOCUS as saying.

Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallström said she hoped the US and North Korea would 'come to their senses' before their increasingly heated rhetoric leads the two nations into a nuclear war, The Local reported.
