Malmo chosen to host 2024 Eurovision
The southern Swedish city of Malmo has been chosen to host the 2024 Eurovision Song contest on May 7-11, Swedish public broadcaster STV has said.
"Malmo is a creative city with a rich cultural life that can provide a music festival for the whole of Europe," said STV director general Hanne Stjarne.
Eurovision has a huge following in Sweden.

Climate change, El Nino drive hottest June on record
The world saw its hottest June on record last month, the EU's climate monitoring service said yesterday, as climate change and the El Nino weather pattern looked likely to drive another scorching northern summer.

One in five Greeks illegally accesses sports content
Greeks rank second in Europe in terms of their accessing illegal sports content.
According to the 2023 report of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), Greece is second only to Bulgaria in terms of illegal access to online sources for watching sports broadcasts.
Traffic-related deaths increased again in Greece last year
The number of fatal road traffic injuries in Greece rose again in 2022, based on the annual report of the European Transport Safety Council (ETSC) published earlier in June.
The 7th Annual Road Safety Performance Index (PIN) showed that 635 people died in Greece in 2022 compared to 624 in 2021. Most of the victims were pedestrians, cyclists, users of skates and mopeds.
Uneven course of local prices
The average price level faced by Greek households in 2022 for consumer goods amounted to 88% of the European Union average, according to recent data from Eurostat.

Intel, Germany sign agreement for $32.8 billion chip plant
Intel and the German government have signed a deal that would see the U.S. company investing more than 30 billion euros ($32.8 billion) in a chip manufacturing site in the German city of Magdeburg, with financial support from Berlin.
Word of the agreement came as German Chancellor Olaf Scholz met Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger in the German capital.
Greece moves up in World Competitiveness Ranking
Greece moved nine places higher, from the 58th to 49th, in the World Competitiveness Ranking in the 2019-2023 period, but remained low in the list of 64 countries, the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) said in a report released on Tuesday.

Euro 2024: Solid Greece defeats Ireland 2-1 in Athens
Greece maintained its hopes of making the top two of its Euro 2024 qualifying group with a 2-1 win at home against Ireland on Friday.
This was the Greek national team's second win in as many games, after the victory at Gibraltar, in a group that also includes France and the Netherlands.
