Iran's Raisi due in Ankara, regional issues top agenda

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi is scheduled to visit Ankara tomorrow at the invitation of his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in a bid to address pressing regional issues.

While the meeting is expected to focus on various matters, the war in Gaza remains a key agenda item, reflecting the shared concerns of both nations.

Fidan says Iran president set to visit Türkiye soon

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has announced that Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi is set to visit Türkiye soon, marking the eighth meeting of the high-level cooperation council between the two nations.

During his address at the parliament's budget talks on Dec. 21, Fidan did not provide an exact date for Raisi's visit but touched on Türkiye's relations with Iran.

Hamas chief in Egypt for talks on Gaza truce and hostage release

The leader of Hamas travelled to Egypt on Wednesday as hopes grew that Israel and the Palestinian militant group may be inching toward another truce and hostage release deal in the Gaza war.

The Qatar-based Hamas chief, Ismail Haniyeh, arrived in Cairo for discussions on the "aggression in the Gaza Strip and other matters", the group said in a statement.

Erdoğan slams West for ‘inaction on Gaza’

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has slammed Western leaders for their lack of response to the ongoing violence between Israel and Hamas, calling on Muslims to stand with the people of Gaza.

"If we don't raise our voices as Muslims today, when will we do?" Erdoğan questioned during a summit of the Organization for Economic Cooperation held in the Uzbek capital Tashkent on Nov. 9.

Ankara, Tehran discuss ways to prevent the conflict from spreading to the region

Turkish and Iranian top diplomats urged that the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas can spread to the other parts of the region as armed non-state actors may no longer be controlled if Israel's atrocities against the civilians are not stopped.
