Turkish foreign minister speaks with Iranian, UAE counterparts

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu spoke on Oct. 21 over the phone with his counterparts from both Iran and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Çavuşoğlu and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian discussed regional issues, especially developments related to Afghanistan and Syria, as well as bilateral relations, said a Foreign Ministry statement.

Iranian, Turkish interior ministers meet in Tehran

Iranian Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi hosted his Turkish counterpart Süleyman Soylu in the capital Tehran on Oct. 20. 

In a statement following a bilateral meeting, Soylu wished Vahidi all the best in his new office.

"To date, we have had very successful cooperation on various issues," he said, adding many problems were solved.

Erdoğan holds phone calls with Afghan, Iranian, Togolese leaders

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held separate phone calls late on Aug. 11 with the presidents of Afghanistan, Iran and Togo, discussing regional issues and bilateral relations with each of them.

Erdoğan in a phone conversation thanked Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, who conveyed his wishes for Turkey's recovery from recent forest fires.

Russia, Iran, Turkey to continue cooperation against ISIL in Syria

Russia, Turkey, and Iran on July 8 agreed to continue working together to combat terrorism and condemned the increasing terrorist activities in various parts of Syria, according to a joint statement by the representatives of the three guarantor countries released after the 16th international meeting on Syria in Astana format.

US troops come under fire in Syria after strikes against Iran-backed militias

U.S. troops came under rocket fire in Syria on June 28, but escaped injury, in apparent retaliation for weekend U.S. air strikes against Iran-aligned militia in Syria and Iraq.
