The victory for the 29-year-old comes after a third place at the Giro d'Italia this year, another Grand Tour. He sat out the Tour de France to prepare for la Vuelta but also because he became father for the first time.

Slovenia's Roglič renews contract with Jumbo Vismo
The cyclist's current contract with the Dutch bicycle racing team would expire in 2020, De Telegraaf said on Tuesday.
Roglič, who is one of the hottest cyclists in the market at the moment, will thus continue to race for the Jumbo-Visma team, participating in multi-stage races, including the three major ones - the first one, the Tour of Spain, will take place at the end of summer.

Pascal Ackermann wins Tour of Slovenia first stage
Germany's national champion was followed by two Italian cyclists - Giacomo Nizzolo, a member of Team Dimension Data, who finished second and Simone Consonni, who currently rides for UAE Team Emirates, in the third place.

Slovenia's new cycling star Pogačar the man to beat at Tour of Slovenia
This year's Tour of Slovenia will not feature Slovenia's best cyclist Primož Roglič, as the race's two-time winner, including last year, is taking a break after recently finishing third overall in the Giro D'Italia.
Slovenia's Roglič third overall at Giro d'Italia
Ahead of the last stage, a 17-km time trial in Verona, the 29-year-old was fourth overall, but he showed his sprinting skills to overtake Spain's Mikel Landa to make it to the podium.
Competing for Jumbo Visma team from the Netherlands, Roglič finished the time trial in 22 minutes and 33 seconds to miss his third win in time trials at this year's Giro D'Italia by 26 seconds.

Roglič wins opening stage of Giro d'Italia
Competing for Jumbo-Visma, he claimed his second Tour de Romandie title only a week ago, and is viewed as one of the favourites for the three-week Giro d'Italia title.
This was Roglič's second stage win at the legendary race across Italy, which kicked off in Bologna. His first stage win at Giro d'Italia came in 2016.

Roglič wins second Tour de Romandie title
With three stage wins, one second and one third stage spots, the 29-year-old member of the Jumbo-Visma team also won the green jersey in the points classification.
Overall, he finished the race 49 seconds ahead of Portuguese rider Rui Costa, and 1:12 minutes ahead of last year's Tour de France winner, Geraint Thomas of Wales.

Copelouzos awarded the Order of the Star of Italy
The Order of the Star of Italy (Stella D'Italia, an Italian knighthood) was bestowed on Dimitris Copelouzos, president of Copelouzos Group, on Wednesday.
The medal was handed to Copelouzos by Italian Ambassador to Greece Luigi Marras, in a special ceremony at the Embassy of Italy in Athens.
