Turkish foreign minister greets Niger counterpart

Turkey's foreign minister on April 17 congratulated his new counterpart from Niger on his posting.

Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu spoke to Hassoumi Massaoudou over the phone, according to diplomatic sources.

He also held separate phone conversations with Finland's Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto and Kandia Camara, foreign minister of the Ivory Coast, the sources said.

Ljubljana Zoo welcomes baby chimp

Ljubljana – Ljubljana Zoo has welcomed a newcomer to its midst as a baby chimpanzee named Tai was born in mid-January. Crested geckos, black-tufted marmosets, a species of New World monkeys, kangaroos and meerkats have also seen the arrival of newborns, the zoo has said.

Turkey in touch with 92 countries to restart flights, says minister

Turkey has completed discussions with 92 countries for resumption of flights, the country's transportation and infrastructure minister said on Aug. 14.  

Turkey continues to operate scheduled and non-scheduled flights with 48 countries as of Aug. 13, Adil Karaismailoğlu said in a press release.

8 Francophone countries get new currency

It is official that the Eco will replace the CFA franc as the new currency for the eight Francophone countries that form the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA).

France's Council of Ministers officially passed a bill earlier this month that ratified the reform of the monetary agreement that bound the French government to the eight member states.

Turkish Airlines halting all int’l flights except 5 routes

Turkish Airlines will ground all international flights except five routes from March 27 to April 17, the national flag carrier announced on March 22.

"As of March 27, we will suspend all our international flights except Hong Kong, Moscow, Addis Ababa, New York, and Washington, until April 17," the company's CEO Bilal Ekşi said on Twitter.
