Migrants from Cuba and Venezuela reach Lesvos!
According to official state data, the national identity of migrants entering Greece with the refugees and migrants from the war torn countries in the Middle East, includes such places as far away as central America. Greek authorities registered migrants from Venezuela, Cuba, the Dominican Republic and Chile landing on the island of Lesvos on Sunday and Monday!

Italy jails captain to 18 years for migrant disaster that killed up to 900
An Italian court ruled Dec. 13 that the captain of a migrant boat that sank in 2015, killing up to 900 people, was responsible for the disaster, the Mediterranean's worst since World War II.
Turkey's Limak sees big future in Africa
Making even a small step in Africa provides a big change as the emerging continent still needs infrastructure and superstructure investments, the head of Turkish group Limak Yatirim Holding told Anadolu Agency on Nov. 16.
Ebru Özdemir, chair of Limak Investment - an investment arm of Limak Group Companies - said the firm would like to be part of Africa's development process.

MÜSİAD EXPO opens in Istanbul with key focus on Africa
The 16th MÜSİAD EXPO opened on Nov. 9 in Istanbul, where thousands of businesspeople and investors from all over the world will explore new cooperation and partnership opportunities.
The expo will host in eight halls, 700 companies and 200,000 visitors from over 100 countries, according to the Independent Industrial and Business Association (MÜSİAD).
EU launches joint border guard at Turkish-Bulgaria border
The European Union launched its common border guard at the Turkish-Bulgarian border on Oct. 6, hoping it will help keep people away from a bloc that is still struggling with political aftershocks from an uncontrolled influx of refugees and migrants last year.
Some 4,650 migrants saved, 28 die trying to reach Italy
More than 4,650 migrants were saved on Oct. 4 and 28 bodies recovered in more than 30 rescue missions off the Libyan coast, the Italian Coast Guard said on Oct. 5.
This brings the total rescued in the last 48 hours to more than 10,000 refugees, and the death toll to 50 as people smugglers take advantage of relatively calm weather to push boats to sea.

'King of Congolese rumba' Papa Wemba dies
Papa Wemba, one of Africa's greatest music stars, died on April 24 after collapsing on stage during a festival in the Ivory Coast, the event organisers said.

THY eyes stake in Senegalese firm: Report
Senegal state-owned television has said Turkish Airlines is the front-runner to take a stake in Air Senegal, a new national airline intended to replace the West African nation's now defunct, heavily indebted carrier Senegal Airlines.
Senegalese President Macky Sall was in Istanbul for the 13th Organization of Islamic Cooperation(OIC) summit last week.
