The Population of the EU has Increased by 1.5 Million due to Immigrants
Last year the population of the European Union increased by 1.5 million and reached 511.8 million. This is mainly due to the immigrants who come to live on the continent. Data is from the EU statistical institute - Eurostat, quoted by Mediapool.

National deaf women's team on top of the world
Greece's national women's team won gold in basketball at the Deaflympics held in Turkey on Saturday.
The Greeks, who also are the European champions since last summer, triumphed 67-50 at the final against Lithuania to climb to the top of the world at the event for the hearing-impaired athletes.

The National Theater of Northern Greece is taking its production of the third play in Aeschylus' Oedipus-themed trilogy, "Seven Against Thebes" - where the blind king's curse dooming his sons to divide the kingdom by the sword finally comes to pass. The production is directed by Lithuania's Cezaris Grauzinis and stars Yiannis Stankoglou as Eteocles and Giorgos Papandreou as Polynices.

HBO Announces 5-Part Miniseries on Chornobyl Accident
HBO says production will begin next year on a miniseries about the Chornobyl nuclear disaster, according to TimesColonist.
The five-part series will star Jared Harris as a Soviet scientist tapped by the Kremlin to investigate the accident.

Sports Digest: U20 team into Euro semis
BASKETBALL: Greece's Under-20 national team advanced to the semifinals of the European Championship of its category, held on Crete, beating Lithuania 76-72 in Thursday's quarterfinal after coming back from 15 points down 11 minutes from the end. In Saturday's semifinal it will face Spain for a place in the final.

Housing Prices in Bulgaria are Rising with one of the Fastest Rates in the EU
Household prices in Bulgaria registered one of the biggest increases in the first quarter in the European Union on an annual basis - 8.8%. This shows latest Eurostat data released on Wednesday. Reports Investor.
Thus our country ranks fifth in the ranking, with the Czech Republic having a 12.7% increase. Lithuania followed by Lithuania (10.2%), Latvia (10.1%) and Ireland (8.9%).

The median value of houses in Greece has recorded a significant fall of 34% between 2009 and 2014, from €106,340 to €69,834. According to official data by the Bank of Greece (BoG), house prices in the Eurozone have increased by 4% and 4.5% in the EU compared to last year, while value of apartments in Greece have fallen by 1.8% in nominal terms.
