Shipbuilding industry exports reach $1 billion

Turkey exported $1.04 billion worth of yachts and ships last year, marking a 5.2 percent increase from 2018, according to data from the Turkish Exporters' Assembly (TİM).

Norway was the main export market as deliveries to this country amounted to $370 million, nearly doubling from the $185 million in revenues in 2018.

Cargo ship adrift off southeast Peloponnese

A cargo ship was cast adrift off Cape Maleas in the Peloponnese on Monday after losing its rudder in turbulent waters whipped up by gale-force winds.

The Marshall Islands-flagged ship is carrying a crew of 22 people and a cargo of metal. It was sailing from Turkey for Argentina when it got into trouble off the eastern coast of the southern Peloponnese.

Tanker adrift in rough seas off Alonissos after engine failure

A tanker was adrift off the coast of Alonissos, one of the Sporades on Monday after it suffered engine failure.

The Marshall Islands-flagged vessel had been en route to Istanbul from Egypt's Port Said with a 26-strong crew when its engine failed.

Two Coast Guard vessels and two towboats were dispatched to the area and three nearby ships were on standby to help.

Those who voted against the resolution included the United States, Israel, Guatemala, Honduras, the Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, Palau, and Togo.

Canada, Mexico, the Philippines, Poland, Romania, Croatia, and Bosnia-Herzegovina were among those who abstained.

20 Countries are on the Offshore Black List of the EU

More than 20 countries can be included in the EU's black list of tax havens, the Financial Times writes.

With the list, the EU will try to tackle aggressive tax evasion. A list of 25 countries is included in the list drawn up by the Code of Conduct Group (Taxation of Undertakings), which includes tax experts from the EU Member States.
