Global debt hits record $253 trillion
The global debt-to-GDP ratio hit a new all-time high of over 322 percent in the third quarter of 2019, with total debt reaching close to a record $253 trillion, the Institute of International Finance (IIF) has said.
Total debt across the household, government, financial and non-financial corporate sectors surged by some $9 trillion in the first three quarters of last year.

Boko Haram kills six in Christmas Eve attack in Nigeria
At least six people were killed and three wounded when Boko Haram insurgents attacked a community in northeastern Nigeria on Christmas Eve.
The insurgents raided Kwaaagilim village near the town of Chibok in Borno state on Dec. 25.
Borno Governor Babagana Zulum confirmed the incident Wednesday during a visit to the area.

More than 42 People Died in a Landslide in Cameroon
At least 42 people have died in a landslide caused by heavy rainfall in Western Cameroon, local authorities said today, cited by the France Press.
There are reports of dozens more buried beneath the masses following last night's landslide in the western province of Bafoussam, where a rescue operation is underway, province governor Fonka Awa Augustine said.
