Russia's tensions with Ukraine could affect energy in the Balkans

Ukraine's loss of gas from Russia is expected to influence energy prices and supplies in the Balkans.

The recent decision by Russia to cut gas exports to Poland reignited concerns about gas supply and prices in southeastern Europe, as well as about tension between Moscow and the West.

Slovakia's Gas Deliveries from Russia Still Less than Agreed

Gazprom is planning to pump less gas then usual into Slovakia on Monday, the country's gas supplier Eustream has said.

Projected deliveries are 49.6 million cubic meters for that day, which is 17% short of the usual volume or 21% than the maximum amount for September, Russian agency Interfax has reported.

Volleyball-Serbia loses last match at World Championships

LODZ - Serbia lost to Iran 3-1 (27-25, 22-25, 25-22, 25-18) in a Second Round Group E match at the Volleyball Men's World Championships in Poland on Sunday.

The players coached by Igor Kolakovic reeled to their fourth defeat against three victories at the championships, while the Iranians secured a Third Round spot with five wins and the second place in the group.

Austria announced Thursday a 15% decrease in deliveries of Russian gas.

It is yet to be established if the reason for the decline was technical, such as a damaged compressor station, or political.

At the same time, sources of Austrian energy group OMV said it had been informed by Russian partners about a supply reduction.
