Turkey in touch with 92 countries to restart flights, says minister

Turkey has completed discussions with 92 countries for resumption of flights, the country's transportation and infrastructure minister said on Aug. 14.  

Turkey continues to operate scheduled and non-scheduled flights with 48 countries as of Aug. 13, Adil Karaismailoğlu said in a press release.

Airlines see strong demand amid reopening

Turkey plans to resume international flights to 40 countries gradually as of June 10, the transport and infrastructure minister said on June 4. 

The international flights from Turkey will carry passengers firstly to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Bahrain, Bulgaria, Qatar, and Greece, Adil Karaismailoğlu said in a statement.

Qatar Airways says all passengers in Athens-bound flight were healthy in Doha

Qatar Airways claimed on Wednesday that all the passengers in a flight that landed in Athens on June 1 had tested negative to coronavirus when they boarded its plane in Doha.

Greece on Tuesday announced it was suspending flights to and from Qatar until mid-June, after 12 out of the 91 passengers in the flight QR203
were found to be infected.

Country’s safe reopening

The discovery on Tuesday of 12 imported cases of coronavirus, which were confirmed in passengers who had landed at Athens International Airport on a flight from Qatar, should serve as a warning for Greece's health authorities.

Nineteen new infections, no new deaths from coronavirus

Greece recorded 19 new coronavirus infections in the past 24 hours, of which the 12 concerned passengers from a flight from Qatar that landed in Athens' International Airport on Monday, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday.

The total number of cases in the country reached 2,937, of which 55.3 percent are men.
