Romanian President Consults With Parties Over New PM

Romania's ruling Social Democrats readied on Monday for consultations with President Klaus Iohannis on naming a new Prime Minister, having impeached their own cabinet last week.

Iohannis stressed that his main concern was the new Prime Minister's integrity, adding that he would not appoint a candidate who had been sentenced for any type of crime, including corruption.

Macron to Visit Romania After Vowing to Tackle Cheap Labour

France's new President, Emmanuel Macron, has accepted an invitation from his Romanian counterpart Klaus Iohannis to visit Bucharest.

"We also discussed about the much debated directive on the posting of workers," Iohannis said after meeting Macron on the sidelines of an EU summit in Brussels on Friday.

Romanian PM ousted in no-confidence vote

Romania's prime minister and his government have been ousted in a no-confidence vote submitted by ruling party members.

A total of 241 politicians approved the motion on Wednesday, more than the 233 votes required.

The governing Social Democratic Party filed the motion to oust Prime Minister Sorin Grindeanu, saying that he had failed to implement the party's political agenda.
