Turkey restricts travel from southern Africa as new variant sparks concern

Turkey, the United States, Brazil, Canada, and Saudi Arabia became the latest countries on Nov. 26 to restrict travel from southern Africa, where a new Covid strain labelled a "variant of concern" has been discovered in a potentially heavy blow to the world's efforts to end the coronavirus pandemic.

UAE crown prince visits Turkey

Abu Dhabi's Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Nov. 24 arrived in Turkish capital Ankara upon the invitation of Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The Crown Prince's visit is his first official visit to Turkey since 2012 and the first top-level meeting between the UAE and Turkey over recent years.

The festival showcases 57 diverse films from 45 Arab and African countries, with screenings not only in cinemas, but in prisons and military barracks too.
