Slum dunk stunts a gogo in Congress Square
Local, European and USA acrobats showed off their slum dunking skills as Ljubljana hosted the 5th Acrobatic Basketball World Cup and Olympic trampoline competition on 7 August. Two members of Slovenia's Dunking Devils set a Guinness world record in the highest mini trampoline slum dunk.

Dangerous Weather in Europe: The Victims of the Floods in Slovenia are now 6
Six are the victims of the unprecedented floods in Slovenia. Among them are two Dutchmen who were struck by lightning. The damage is expected to exceed half a billion euros.
Flood impact to business huge
Business located in parts of Slovenia that have been hit hardest by the devastating flooding have suffered enormous damage. Apart from direct damage, businesses are concerned about a loss of income and deals that they say could affect even more companies down the supply chain. They have been given assurances though that the government will step in.

In Slovenia, lace-making is for everyone
The western town of Nova Gorica hosted bobbin and needle lace-makers from 26 countries for the World Lace Congress over the past weekend. This is the second time that Slovenia, a country with a long tradition of the craft, hosted this largest global event celebrating lace.

Pogačar wins world road race bronze
Tadej Pogačar won bronze for Slovenia in the road race at the UCI Cycling World Championships in Glasgow on 6 August in what he described as a "sprint of the living dead".
Despite crashing while leading the race, Dutch rider Mathieu van der Poel managed to remount his bike and pull away to win the rainbow jersey, finishing 37 seconds clear of Belgian Wout van Aert in second.

Damage after ‘apocalyptic’ flooding to pass €500 million
Having been pounded by heavy rains for more than 36 hours, Slovenia has begun to come to terms with the impact of what many of those affected have described as apocalyptic flooding. Prime Minister Robert Golob has assessed the damage will likely exceed €500 million.
Basketball legend honored at friendly game
The legend of Greek basketball, Nikos Galis, received a standing ovation from thousands of fans in the Athens Olympics Stadium complex (OAKA) in northern Athens.
Before the start of the friendly match between Greece and Slovenia, Nikos Galis' jersey with the number 4 was raised up high above the court.

Slovenia’s exports and trade surplus at all-time high
Slovenia's merchandise exports increased by 0.8% year-on-year in June to hit an all-time monthly high of €5.3 billion. With imports falling over the same period, the national Statistics Office also reported the highest surplus on record.
