Peanuts of the finance ministry concern us all

Like everybody else, I was astonished when the finance minister commented on the armored Mercedes allocated to the head of the Religious Affairs Directorate by saying, ?The money spent on vehicles for public institutions is 3.3 billion Turkish Liras, peanuts in Turkey?s budget.?

Govt minister: Loans from BRICS shouldn’t be ruled out

Greece’s social insurances minister on Wednesday emphasized that his government should “not rule out alternatives”, when asked if the debt-ridden country should join the so-called “BRICS” development bank.
The latter was recently announced amid heightened hoopla by the leaders of the BRICS, i.e. Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

Greece wins 3rd place in intl Blue Flag program

Three hundred and ninety five Greek coasts and nine marinas won the international “Blue Flag” programme classification, placing Greece in third amongst 49 countries.

The Blue Flag is a voluntary eco-label awarded to more than 4000 beaches and marinas in 49 countries across Europe, South Africa, Morocco, Tunisia, New Zealand, Brazil, Canada and the Caribbean.

Turkey, South Africa vulnerable to strong US dollar: Moody's

Robust U.S. growth and stabilizing financing conditions will help the global economy to grow more strongly next year after muted growth in 2015, but some countries are vulnerable to negative shocks due to the strong U.S. dollar, said Moody?s Investors Service in its quarterly Global Macro Outlook report.
