Bankruptcies grew fivefold in last decade
Corporate bankruptcies in Greece are still a staggering five times what they were in the period before the outbreak of the financial crisis, despite the small 2-percentage point decline recorded so far in 2017, according to international credit insurance company Atradius.

Three killed in Pamplona bull festival (videos)
Three people have been gored on the first day of Spain’s famous Pamplona festival – including one man who was impaled through the testicles.
The world-famous San Fermin festival kicked off with fighting bulls from the notorious Cebada Gago ranch who gored seven runners last year.

Spain's Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy called July 5 for calm in the face of "authoritarian delusions" in Catalonia, as tensions between Madrid and separatists in the northeastern region surged over an independence drive.
Real defender Pepe set to join Beşiktaş
Portuguese international Pepe has signed for Beşiktaş, the Turkish champion announced on July 4, bringing an end to 10 incident-packed years with Spanish giant Real Madrid.
The 34-year-old Brazilian-born defender Kepler Laveran Lima Ferreira joined Real from Porto in 2007 for 30 million euros ($34 million), winning the La Liga title in his first campaign.

Kalamata Festival | Messinia | July 14-23
Kalamata is gearing up to hold its annual dance festival for the 23rd year in a row. This year dance groups from South Africa, Italy, Israel, Sweden, the Netherlands and Spain will be performing at the festival for the first time, making their Greek debut. The festival also features four Greek dance acts who have become a permanent fixture of the festival as the years have progressed.

More than 100,000 migrants and refugees have made the perilous journey across the Mediterranean to Europe since the beginning of the year, and 2,247 have died trying, the U.N. said on July 4.
Greece legalises marijuana for medical purposes!
Greece has become the latest European country to legalise marijuana for medical purposes.
Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said last week that doctors will soon be able to prescribe the drug for a variety of medical conditions.
Cannabis is normally prescribed for conditions like muscle spasms, chronic pain, PTSD, epilepsy and cancer.

Atheists are less open-minded than religious people, study claims
Religious people are more tolerant of different viewpoints than atheists, according to researchers at a Catholic university.
A study of 788 people in the UK, France and Spain concluded that atheists and agnostics think of themselves as more open-minded than those with faith, but are are actually less tolerant to differing opinions and ideas.
