In September Bulgarians Traveled Mainly to Germany and the UK

The number of trips of Bulgarian citizens abroad in September 2017 is 570.8 thousand or 11.9% above those registered in September 2016, reports bgnes. 

The increase in the number of trips of Bulgarian citizens compared to the same month of the previous year was reported for Germany - by 27.2%, the United Kingdom by 22.9%, Austria by 15.3%, Serbia by 7.7%, 7.6% up in Turkey.

Greek passport in the top 10 strongest in the world

Greece has one of the strongest passports in the world as it ranked 7th with Australia and New Zealand (153 points), according to a new ranking by global advisory firm Arton Capital.
The tropical island-nation of Singapore, however, boasts the world’s strongest passport. It’s the first time an Asian country has topped the list.

Balkan States' Passports Rank as Average in Global Survey

Balkan countries that are members of the EU fared significantly better than their non-EU neighbours in the latest Passport Index, which ranks countries based on how many other states can be accessed with their respective passports.

On the list, ranked from one to 94, Croatia took 14th place, as 144 countries can be visited using a Croatian passport without a visa.

Bulgaria's deputy defense minister confirmed on Tuesday that some military pilots will not take part in planned training this week.

"Some of the pilots from Graf Ignatievo air base will not perform training flights because of insecurity," said Deputy Defense Minister Atanas Zapryanov.

Human Rights Activists, Amnesty Heads go on Trial in Turkey

German campaigner Peter Steudtner is among the 11 human rights activists on trial in Turkey, accused of belonging to and aiding terror groups. Critics say the charges are politically motivated, Deutsche Welle reported.

The trial of the 11 activists was set to begin on Wednesday, with the defendants facing up to 15 years in jail on terrorism related charges. 

Eight EU states want "more work to counter Russian propaganda"

Eight EU countries have signed a letter asking for "Russian propaganda to be countered, especially in the Western Balkans."

Tanjug reported this on Tuesday, citing the Croatian daily Jutarnji List, which in turn, quoted the Brussels-based website EUobserver - which said it had seen the letter, sent to EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini.

Bulgaria is at the Bottom Among the Other EU Members on Internet Consumption

Another ranking places our country at the bottom among the other members of the European Union. This time, Internet World Stats ranks internet consumption in the 28 countries, including the UK.

The survey was conducted in June 2017, statistics cover both countries around the world and focus on EU members, according to BGNES.

Grigor Dimitrov Remains Eighth in the World

Grigor Dimitrov retains his eighth position in the ATP world rankings this week. 

Bugarian tennis star Grigor Dimitrov has missed the chance to win the title of the Stockholm Open.

The Bulgarian lost at the final in Sweden against last year's champion Juan Martin del Porto, who deservedly won the game 4-6, 2-6.

Dep Potro overcame Dimitrov for just 1 hour and 25 minutes.
