Switzerland hits VW cars with registration ban, France opens probe
The Swiss Federal Roads Office on Oct. 2 issued a preliminary ban on registering new Volkswagen diesel vehicles that may be outfitted with software designed to cheat emissions tests, it said in a statement.
Foreign diplomats present their images of Greece
The photo exhibition, titled “Greece through the diplomats’ lens”, is currently featured at the “Melina Mercouri” Athens Cultural Center. Around 70 photos of Greece as seen through the eyes of foreign diplomats in Greece is presented in a display that showcases Greek antiquities, inviting Greek islands surrounded by the blue of the sea and sky.

Brazil lower house speaker under pressure over Swiss accounts
A group of lawmakers called for the resignation of the speaker of Brazil's lower house of Congress, Eduardo Cunha, on Oct.1 after Switzerland provided Brazilian prosecutors with details of Swiss bank accounts in his name.

Allianz Global Wealth: Greeks among the poorest Europeans
German insurer Allianz Global Wealth released its report on per capita assets around the world. Average Swiss households at 157,450 euros ($176,736) remained the richest in the world, though it was found that equality was rising. The Swiss were well ahead of the United States where average household assets were at $138,710, followed by the UK at 86,230 euros from 10th place last year.
World Economic Forum: Greece ranks 81st in global competitiveness
The World Economic Forum report released on Wednesday ranks Greece as 81st in the Global Competitiveness Report 2015-2016.

G7, Gulf states pledge $1.8 billion for UN refugee aid
The G7 group of leading economies, European countries and Gulf states pledged $1.8 billion in funding on Sept.29 for UN aid agencies struggling with the worst refugee crisis in 70 years.
Supermoon around the world in case you missed it (pics + vids)
People rushed to take photos of the rare eclipse of the supermoon on September 27. NASA says that total eclipses of super full moons are rare and have only occured 5 times in the 1900s (1910, 1928, 1946, 1964 and 1982). The next Supermoon eclipse is due in another 18 years.

CHP leader to embark on hectic European tour
