US releases video showing close-call in Taiwan Strait with Chinese destroyer

The United States military released video Monday of what it called an "unsafe" Chinese maneuver in the Taiwan Strait on the weekend, in which a Chinese navy ship cut sharply across the path of an American destroyer, forcing the U.S. vessel to slow to avoid a collision.

In the warning issued on Wednesday, which came from several countries, it was revealed that Chinese cyber espionage was aimed at military and government organizations in the US, Reuters reported.
The Chinese government has rejected claims it is spying on Western targets, calling the warning from the US and its allies a "collective disinformation campaign".

38 Chinese Aircraft and 6 Ships approached Taiwan in One Day

Taiwan's armed forces recorded 38 Chinese military aircraft and six ships approaching the island in one day, Taiwan's defense ministry said, citing local and foreign media.

"From 06:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 27 to 06:00 a.m. on Friday, April 28, 38 aircraft and 6 ships of the People's Liberation Army of China were observed around Taiwan," the ministry wrote in Twitter.

US warship sails through Taiwan Strait days after China drills

A US warship sailed through the waters separating Taiwan and mainland China, the US Navy said, days after Beijing staged war games around the self-ruled island.

Led by the United States, multiple Western navies regularly conduct "freedom of navigation operations" to assert the international status of regional waterways such as the Taiwan Strait and the South China Sea.
