January visitors beat forecasts

January posted a great increase in the number of tourists, but also in the money they spent during their stay in Greece, in what is usually a quiet month for tourism.

According to Bank of Greece data, the annual increase in receipts was 27% and visitors 16% - much higher than the already strong trend of 2023 but also the positive forecasts for 2024 (+10% in arrivals).

UN event marks Int’l Day of Zero Waste 

The United Nations has hosted an event to mark the second International Day of Zero Waste, highlighting a project initiated in Türkiye aimed at reducing waste burden, with Turkish first lady Emine Erdoğan calling for tangible steps towards sustainability.

March 30 was declared as International Day of Zero Waste by a United Nations General Assembly resolution in 2022.

Serbia gets four new ambassadors

BELGRADE - The Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that Serbia has four new ambassadors.

In a statement, it said that, following the publication of a decree signed by President Aleksandar Vucic, Aleksandra Djurovic, Aca Jovanovic, Mirjana Kotlajic and Danijel Apostolovic had been appointed Serbian ambassadors to Hungary, Turkey, Chile and the EU, respectively.
