Price checks begin after VAT cut
Officials have begun checking supermarkets to see if they reduced the prices after the government cut the value-added tax (VAT) on food products, while President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said those who do not comply will face penalties.

Slovenia’s food processing industry presented at Dubai Expo
Dubai – The Slovenian pavilion at the Dubai Expo hosted a business forum of the country’s food processing industry on Monday. It was attended by Agriculture Minister Jože Podgoršek, who said that his visit to the United Arab Emirates was also about looking for new business partners.
President Erdoğan due to visit UAE on Feb 14-15
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will pay a visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Feb. 14-15 as the countries stepped up to restore ties after years-long strain.
Bilateral relations between Turkey and the UAE will be evaluated in all aspects, and the possibilities of developing cooperation will be discussed during the meetings, said a statement by the presidency.

Slovenia hosting National Day in Dubai
Dubai – Slovenia’s presentation at the Dubai Expo will culminate on Tuesday as the country marks its Culture Day with a special programme. The National Day at the Slovenian pavilion will feature Foreign Minister Anže Logar and Economy Minister Zdravko Počivalšek.

Kuwait bans ’Death on the Nile’ film with Israeli actress
Kuwait will ban a new film adaptation of Agatha Christie's whodunnit "Death on the Nile" with a cast of Hollywood stars including Israeli actress Gal Gadot, authorities said on Feb. 6.
The film, directed by and co-starring Kenneth Branagh, is due for release this month in the United States.
IMF disburses $1 bn for Pakistan
The IMF has approved a $1 billion loan disbursement for Pakistan after signaling approval with recent government reforms.
The money comes from an agreement that was approved in July 2019 for a $6 billion loan over a period of more than three years under the Washington-based crisis lender's Extended Fund Facility.
