Saudi Arabia becomes top arms importer

Saudi Arabia overtook India in 2014 as the world's biggest importer of defence equipment, fuelled by tensions in the Middle East, according to a study published Sunday by respected analysts IHS Jane's.
      
Global defence trade currently stands at $64.4 billion, said the report from the London-based defence specialists.
      

Jordan's Wolf and Serbia's No One's Child named best at Fest

BELGRADE - The Belgrade Victor awards for best film at the 43rd International Film Festival Fest went to the Jordanian-UAE co-production Wolf in the main competitive programme and Serbia's No One's Child in the national selection.

Late Sunday's award ceremony officially closed the festival, which featured 90 premieres in various programmes from February 27.

Blatter calls on Iran to allow women into stadiums

FIFA president Sepp Blatter has asked Iran to end its ban on women watching football matches, describing the situation as intolerable.

"When I travelled to Iran in November 2013, I was not only confronted with huge popular enthusiasm from football but also a law forbidding women from attending football matches," he wrote in FIFA's weekly magazine.
