Greek fertility rate one of the lowest in EU, says Eurostat

According to Eurostat data, there were just over 5 million new births registered in the EU in 2014, with France recording the highest fertility rate. The data indicated the average age a woman has her first child is 29 years old. Greece had 92,000 new births in 2014, with Greek women bearing their first child at 30 years old.

Reactors at Bulgaria's Kozloduy Nuclear Plant 'among Most Dangerous in Europe'

Reactors at the Kozloduy nuclear power plant in Bulgaria are considered to be among the most dangerous in Europe, a report at German daily Der Tagesspiegel [DE] reads.

It also cites a number of safety concerns raised in 2013 by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the global energy watchdog (even though some of the recommendations have been addressed since then). 

European Council President Tusk tries to persuade Cyprus on Turkey-refugee crisis in visit to island’s capital

The President of the European Council, Donald Tusk is scheduled to land in Cyprus on an official visit, Tuesday in an effort to persuade the Cypriot government to ease up on its harsh stance towards the prospect of the EU opening up EU accession chapters for Turkey.
