In Muslim-majority countries such as Turkey, Albania and Kosovo, or in countries with large Muslim communities, such as Bosnia and North Macedonia, many people gathered on Thursday morning for the Eid al-Fitr, the holiday marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

Eid al-Fitr, the holiday marking the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, is being celebrated in Turkey under the shadow of strict measures to stem the spread of COVID-19 disease for the second year in a row.

Turkey's president on May 24 reiterated his country's support for Palestine as the Muslim world celebrates Eid al-Fitr, the holiday marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

"We will not allow the Palestinian lands to be offered to anyone else," President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said in a video message on Twitter addressed to U.S. Muslims.

Turkey's president on May 24 exchanged greetings with his counterparts from Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Iran, Oman and Turkmenistan for Eid al-Fitr, the Muslim holiday following the holy month of Ramadan.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke on the phone with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev, said Turkey's Communications Directorate.

Some 7,421 people did paragliding in the Fethiye district of the Aegean province of Muğla during the nine-day-long Eid al-Fitr holiday covering June 1-9, the head of the Fethiye Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FTSO) has said.

Some 73 people lost their lives and 754 people were injured on the roads during the first eight days of the Eid al-Fitr holiday, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

The Sümela Monastery has seen an influx of tourists during the Eid al-Fitr festival following a four-year-long comprehensive restoration and rock improvement project.

In an effort to avoid traffic jams, many of the travelers who left their cities for Eid al-Fitr vacations are already hitting roads to come home, three days before the end of nine-day-long holiday

Health Ministry has warned people against consuming too much sugar consumption during the Eid al-Fitr holiday, which marks the end of the Islamic fasting month of Ramadan.
