Albanian: Extremists threaten the Greek minority in Albania while the Rama turns a blind eye

Far Fewer Albanians Seek Asylum in Germany
Germany said only 17,236 asylum seekers from Albania arrived in the country 2016, a sharp drop of more than 34,000 on the previous year, when over 50,000 arrived.
Viktor Merkuri, from the European University of Tirana, told BIRN on Thursday that Germany had successfully discouraged Albanians from seeking asylum by implementing tough repatriation policies.

Environmentalist protesters rallied at dawn on Thursday in front of Albania's parliament to urge ruling party MPs not to push for another vote on a controversial law on waste imports.
Greens fear the MPs intend to adopt the law once again after President Bujar Nishani in mid-October refused to authorize it.
Worker Dies in Oil Refinery Blast in Albania
A 40-year-old worker, Shkelqim Muca, died and five others were wounded after an explosion at the Ballsh oil refinery in southern Albania.
The explosion happened while 300 workers were on a shift, 11 of them in the hydro-cleaning sector where the blast happened. Workers told the media tell that the flames from the explosion burned for around 20 minutes.
Vucic: Albania significant regional partner
BELGRADE - Serbia has a lasting commitment to developing bilateral relations with Albania as a significant partner in the region, Serbian PM Aleksandar Vucic said at a meeting with Albanian counterpart Edi Rama Thursday, expressing the belief the development of Serbia-Albania ties was contributing to overall stability in the Western Balkans, which he said was a mutual interest.
