Vucic to initiate trilateral meeting with Italy, Albania

ROME - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Tuesday he would initiate a trilateral meeting of Serbia, Italy and Albania that would be aimed at forging closer ties and at participation in joint projects.

Concluding an official visit to Rome, Vucic told reporters he would discuss the idea with Albanian PM Edi Rama first.

Restaurant Blast Shakes Northern Albanian Resort

An explosion in a restaurant at Velipoja beach resort in the north of Albania on Friday left three people seriously wounded while others sustained lighter injuries.

The owner of the restaurant and two other restaurant employees have been transported by helicopter to a hospital in Tirana. Police evacuated tourists from the area and are working to stop the fire from spreading.

EU Deported 42.600 Albanian Asylum Seekers in 2016

The number of Albanian asylum seekers who have been deported to their home country last year was 42.600. This is the figure that was recently published by the European Institute of Statistics (EUROSTAT) in relation to the process of the deportation of asylum seekers from its territory, says the Independent Balkan News Agency.

Ministry hits out at Albania over razed properties

The Foreign Ministry criticized Albania Wednesday over the demolition of properties belonging to members of the Greek minority in the southern region of Himara, declaring that the violation of European principles by a country aiming to join the EU "means that, in reality, this country does not want its European course."

New TAP manager for Greece

The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), the end piece of the $40 billion Southern Gas Corridor, has appointed a new country manager for Greece, it said Wednesday. TAP, which will bring Azeri gas into Europe by 2020 via Greece and Albania, said Katerina Papalexandri will take over from Rikard Scoufias on September 1.

Kosovars Warned About Using First Bitcoin ATM

Kosovo will soon become the 57th country in the world - and the first in the Balkan region - to operate a virtual money ATM, according to Albvision Ltd, the company that delivered the machine.
