Djuric to Albanian PM: Keep your hands off Serbia

The head of the Government Office for Kosovo and Metohija says that "nobody should play with attempting to revive the fascist idea of a Greater Albania."

Marko Djuric in this way responded to Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, who said that he could not rule out the possibility of "a union between Albania and Kosovo" - if EU membership prospects for the Western Balkans fade.

Albanian PM won't rule out "union" with Kosovo

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama says that "a union between Albania and Kosovo" cannot be ruled out if EU membership prospects for the Western Balkans fade.

Asked about by Politico whether "he would take a union with Kosovo off the table," Rama replied:

Kadare Demands to See Albanian Communist Police File

Ismail Kadare said in an open letter distributed to media on Wednesday that he asked two weeks ago for the files held on him by the Sigurimi - Albania's Communist-era secret police - to be opened up so he can discover who spied on him.

"I inform you that I requested the opening of my file two weeks ago, without putting any condition or restriction [on it]," he said in the letter.

By joining Montenegro's ruling coalition, Albanians "saved" this country for the second time, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has been quoted as saying.

"By joining the government Albanians saved Montenegro for the second time," he said.

Greece arrests seven for trafficking drugs from Albania to Italy

Greece's coastguard said on Saturday that it had uncovered an international ring that transported large quantities of drugs from Albania to Italy using high-speed boats.

The coastguard's drug-fighting unit said it had arrested five Albanians and two Greeks and seized 1.5 tonnes of unprocessed cannabis and two speedboats, estimating that the ring had made "many millions of euros."
