International Novi Sad Literature Festival opens

NOVI SAD - The 9th International Novi Sad Literature Festival was opened in the central city square in Novi Sad with a speech by President of Matica Srpska, professor and poet Dragan Stanic, on Tuesday evening.

Sozopol Hosts 30-th Edition of Apollonia Art Festival

The 30-th anniversary edition of the Apollonia Art Festival will take place in Bulgaria's seaside town of Sozopol between August 28 and September 6.

The festival has established itself as a gathering point of artists, musicians, writers, poets, actors and architects and has become one of the major points in the summer art programme in Bulgaria. 

Sofia's Cultural Calendar Swelling with Performaces in End-August

A variety of outdoor musical and children's events will take place in Bulgaria's capital city of Sofia in the last days of August.

The cultural calendar of Sofia includes diverse live concerts and theatrical performances for children and for grown ups in the Borisova Gradina Park, the City Garden, the South Park, and the Zaimov Park, BGNES reports.

International Sport Film Festival starts Friday at Zlatibor

ZLATIBOR - The 3rd International Sport Film Festival is taking place August 22-25 on Mt. Zlatibor, western Serbia.

The competition part of the program will feature 12 documentaries by filmmakers from India, England, East Timor, France, Russia, Poland, U.S., Canada,Turkey, Bulgaria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Serbia.

Nada Pavlovic handed lifetime achievement award at Nisville

NIS - Serbian jazz singer Nada Pavlovic is the winner of the lifetime achievement award of the 20th Nisville Jazz Festival.

Pavlovic, a legend of Serbian jazz and evergreen music, received the award from Nis Mayor Zoran Perisic at late Thursday's opening ceremony.

In keeping with tradition, the festival was opened by a Serbian band, Moba feat Oliver Katic.

International Novi Sad Literature Festival opens on Aug 25

BELGRADE - The 9th International Novi Sad Literature Festival will take place from August 25 to 29, the Association of Writers of Vojvodina announced on Friday.

During the four-day festival, authors from Serbia and abroad will read their poetry and prose at an open-air venue in downtown Novi Sad and take part in panel discussions on modern literature.

M3 Communications Group Wins Prizes For Best PR Agency In Europe

Bulgaria's PR agency M3 Communications Group Inc., part of Global PR leader Hill+Knowlton Strategies Group, got two prizes at the international business Stevie Awards.

The agency got the prize “Best PR Agency In Europe” and the prize “Best Event Presenting a New Product” for the Danone MEN campaign, presenting yogurt for men. 

Sofia Comics Expo Starts In Sofia On August 15

The first international exhibition of comics in Bulgaria – Sofia Comics Expo – opens for the public on August 15 in the gallery of the Union of Bulgarian Artists. 

It is on the first floor of the gallery at 6 “Shipka” street and will be on till September 15.

International Jazz Festival Starts Friday In Bansko

The 17-th edition of the popular International Jazz Festival starts in Bulgaria's mountain resort town Bansko on Friday.

The concerts are free for the public and the festival is organised with the aid of sponsors.

Monkey Bites Nina Dobrev in Bali

Bulgarian-born Nina Dobrev was attacked by a monkey while she was on holiday on the Indonesian island of Bali, the actress revealed.

Dobrev, who rose to fame after starring in the Vampire Diaries, tried to pet the animal, but it her thumb, according to the website Dariknews.bg.

The incident left her thumb with a scar, and its nerve was severely damaged.

10th International Folklore Festival begins in Pirot

PIROT - The 10th International Folklore Festival began in Pirot, south-west Serbia late on Wednesday.

In addition to representatives of the host city, this year's festival programme will gather folk dance groups from Bulgaria, Georgia, Spain and Republika Srpska (Serb entity in Bosnia-Herzegovina).

Bulgaria's Coast City of Varna Promotes Itself In YouTube

The Municipality of Bulgaria's Black Sea city of Varna published on its YouTube channel a video, promoting the city. 

It is part of the city's bid to become European Capital of Culture 2019. 

The video is a little over five minutes long and features bird's eye view of the city and its most notable buildings and sights.

Gela Bagpipe Contest to Take Place This Weekend

The traditional Rhodope bagpipe (kaba gaida) contest in Bulgaria's village of Gela will take place on August 2 and 3.

This would be the 11-th year of the festival, which takes place in the first weekend of August in celebration of St. Ilia, near the St. Ilia chapel above the village in the heart of the Rhodope mountains.
