Real Madrid Arrives In Sofia

The Spanish football team Real Madrid arrived in Sofia on Tuesday afternoon for its match against Bulgaria's Ludogorets in the Champions League.

The team was welcomed by many fans and had a practice at the Vasil Levski national stadium where the two teams will play on Wednesday evening.

The tickets for the game have been sold out last week.

Bulgaria's Dimitrov Beats Verdasco in First China Open Match

Tennis player Grigor Dimitrov managed to secure a hard victory against Spain's Fernando Verdasco in his first encounter at China Open in Beijing.

Dimitrov won the match that lasted 1 h 36 min and ended 6:1, 3:6, 6:3.

After an easy first set for Dimitrov, Verdasco posed a tough challenge to the Bulgarian, who lost the second one.

Bulgaria’s Women’s Volleyball Team Defeats Canada at World Championship

The women's national volleyball team of Bulgaria has scored a new remarkable victory at the World Championship in Italy.

The Bulgarians won against Canada with 3: 0 (25:17, 25:16, 25:18) thus landing the 3rd place in the group with nine points, leaving Turkey behind, Nova TV reports.

Making it into the ATP World Tour finals in London will be Grigor Dimitrov's main goal until the end of the season, Bulgaria's top tennis player delcared on Sunday.

Dimitrov described the past months as "the best season" in his career while speaking at his first press conference before the China Open tournament in Chinese capital Beijing.

BELGRADE - Men's volleyball team of Serbia still takes the third place in the latest European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) ranking.

CEV has published the ranking after the end of the world championship in Poland, and Serbia is still ranked third with 324 points, the Serbian Volleyball Association released in a statement.

Bulgaria's tennis player Tsvetana Pironkova started her participation in the China Open tennis tournament with a victory.

TRIESTE - The Serbian women's volleyball team beat Cameroon 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 26-24) in their World Championship Pool B, Round 3 match in Trieste, Italy on Thursday.

Coach Zoran Terzic's team scored their third consecutive victory after beating Turkey (3-0) and Bulgaria (3-2).

There will be no fixtures on Friday, and Serbia will next face Canada on Saturday.

Sofia Fails to Become Host City for Euro 2020 Matches

Bulgaria will not host any matches of the UEFA Euro 2020 Championship, according to an announcement of UEFA.

UEFA announced the 13 venues that would host matches for the championship after a meeting of its executive committee in Geneva on Friday.

Sofia was one of the 19 candidates to host matches of Euro 2020 but it failed to make it among the 13 winners.
