Police Syndicate TUFEMI Threatens Protests

The largest police syndicate - the Trade Union Federation of the Employees in the Ministry of Interior (TUFEMI) - has made a statement that the labour rights of workers in the system of the Interior Ministry are systematically violated due to unclear budget cuts, which have led to a direct threat to the lives and health of policemen and firefighters in Bulgaria.

Vacant Places at Bulgarian Universities for Another Consecutive Year

For another consecutive year, large universities in Bulgaria announced additional listings in order to fill vacant places. New applicants and candidates not admitted in former competitions may apply. There are vacant places after the regular competitions, despite the fact that state admittance this year was reduced by 9,000 places.

Serbian, Bulgarian PMs talk about energy, migrants

Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic late on Thursday a telephone conversation with his Bulgarian counterpart Boyko Borisov, the Serbian government announced.

The two spoke about "promotion of bilateral relations, with special emphasis on cooperation in the field of energy and the construction of interconnections between Serbia and Bulgaria."

Bulgarian and American Pilots to Defend Bulgarian Air Space

As of tomorrow, training for joint tasks to be carried out under Air Policing will begin at the Graf Ignatievo air base. Bulgarian and American crews of MiG-19 and F-15 aircraft will participate in the training. The training will take place under the joint command of Torrejon, Spain and Sofia Area Control Centre.

Bus stations in Bulgaria will be divided in three categories. They must have Wi-Fi, a web page and telephone connections. These are the regulatory changes proposed by Transport Minister, Ivaylo Moskovski.

Joint Bulgarian-Greek Units To Patrol Borders with Turkey

As of the end of September, joint Bulgarian-Greek units will patrol the Bulgarian-Greek and Bulgarian-Turkish borders against the illegal traffic of refugees. In the current situation, there are sections along the Bulgarian-Greek and Bulgarian-Turkish borders which are not secured physically and are being used for the trafficking of migrants.

President receives letters of credence from five ambassadors

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic on Thursday received the letters of credence from the new ambassadors of Greece, Israel, Bulgaria, Poland and Romania.

Greek Ambassador Ilias Iliadis presented his letters of credence with a short address in the Serbian language.

Hungarian Police To Patrol Serbian-Bulgarian Border

A Hungarian police unit with full technical equipment will patrol the Serbian-Bulgarian border, announced Serbian Interior Minister, Nebojsa Stefanovic.

 The Minister added that the authorities in Belgrade have already asked the Austrian and French police for assistance. According to him, additional foreign forces will contribute to "the stability and security of state frontiers".

Bulgaria's MPs Change Rules for Registration of Non-Profits

Lawmakers have approved on a second reading new procedures for the registration of non-governmental organizations in Bulgaria.

Under the amendments of the law on non-profit legal entities, all of these will have to file their registration documents with the Registry Agency of Bulgaria, an institution working with the Justice Ministry.

Bulgaria to Spend BGN 47 M on Presidential Elections, Referendum

The Bulgarian cabinet has approved the budget for this year's presidential elections and a referendum on the country's political system on October 06.

Funding for both polls will be secured from the central budget for 2016.

Last Bulgarian King's Party Endorses Maverick Socialist for President

The National Movement for Stability and Prosperity (NDSV) has backed presidential candidate Tatyana Doncheva and has raised one of its members as a running mate.

NDSV was founded around the figure of last King and Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha in 2001 as he returned to Bulgaria to run in the parliamentary elections and became Prime Minister in June of the same year.

Bulgaria FM to Attend Euro-Arab Meeting on Mediterranean Security

Security and stability in the Mediterranean region will be the focus of a meeting on Thursday bringing together European and Arab leaders to which Bulgaria's Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov has been invited, his institution says.

As many as 16 states will be represented, the vast majority of them bordering the Mediterranean sea.
