Nikolay Mladenov to Be Appointed UN Middle East Envoy - UN Diplomats

The United Nations Security Council has approved the appointment of Bulgarian diplomat Nikolay Mladenov as UN envoy in the Middle East.

Mladenov will replace Dutch diplomat Robert Serry, according to sources close to the matter, as cited by the The Washington Post and the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency.

Mladenov has been UN envoy in Iraq since 2013.

Sports Minister Expects Green Light for Construction of 2nd Gondola Lift in Bansko

Bulgarian Sports Minister Krasen Kralev has said that he expects that the construction of a second gondola lift in the mountain resort of Bansko will be cleared by the working group set up over the matter.

Kralev spoke in favor of the facility at a Wednesday sitting of the parliamentary committee on youth and sports.

Bulgaria's Govt Debt Rises to EUR 11.3 B at End-2014

Bulgaria's government debt has increased to EUR 11.3 B in nominal terms at the end of December 2014 from EUR 7.2 B a year earlier, Finance Ministry data showed on Wednesday.

Government debt has also increased compared with November 2014, when it totalled EUR 9.6 B.
