New InvestBulgaria Agency Head to Present Investment Promotion Strategy
The InvestBulgaria Agency is preparing a comprehensive investment promotion strategy, according to Stamen Yanev, the newly appointed Executive Director of the Agency.
Yanev, who took over Wednesday from Svetoslav Mladenov, told the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency that representatives of NGOs, businesses, and the state would take part in the preparation of the draft of the strategy.
Bulgarian Cabinet Adopts Governance Programme
The Bulgarian Cabinet adopted on Wednesday the government's programme on stable development of the country for the period 2014-2018.
The governance programme has been devised in accordance with the coalition agreement for the formation of a pro-European reformist government for the sustainable development of Bulgaria, the government's press service reports.
Referendum on Voting Rules to Be Brought to Successful End - President
Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev has said he is determined to make sure that a referendum on voting rules, which failed to take place last year, will be carried out.
Plevneliev sought in January to trigger a national poll seeking citizens' opinion on the introduction of three elements in the electoral process: a majority system, compulsory voting, and e-voting.
Bulgaria's Govt Allocates Additional BGN 40 M to State-Owned Railway Co
Bulgaria's government has allocated an additional sum of BGN 40 M to the state-owned Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ) company to prevent staff cuts and cancellations of trains.
The move was necessitated by protests in different regions of the country over 38 cancelled trains which caused major inconvenience to people relying on railway transport.
Parliament OKs Building of Border Fence Without Public Procurement
The Bulgarian Parliament decided on Wednesday to continue the construction of the fence at the border with Turkey without launching a public procurement procedure.
The members of parliament approved the amendments to the Public Procurement Act at first and second reading without discussions, the news website Dnevnik reports.
