New Artists Revive Sound of Sevdah in Bosnia

The popular vocalist-guitarist from Sarajevo was born into a family of musicians including his grandfather, Zaim Imamovic, a sevdah legend from the mid-20th century.
The award-winning musician is also a researcher into sevdah, a musical form whose roots date back as far back as the 15th century.
International Satire fest to be held on October 12
BELGRADE - The international "Satire Fest 2016" festival of humor and satire will take place on October 12 at the Kolarac Foundation, the organizer, the Belgrade Aphoristic Circle, has announced.
The 14th Satire Fest will be dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the death of writer Petar Kocic (1877-1916).
The Ridiculous Darkness named best play of 50th Bitef
BELGRADE - Wolfram Lotz's the Ridiculous Darkness, directed by the Czech Republic's Dusan David Parízek and produced by Burgtheater Vienna, has been named the best play of the 50th Belgrade International Theatre Festival - Bitef.
The Mira Trailovic Grand Prix was handed out to Parizek by an international jury.
14th International Comics Festival opens
BELGRADE - The 14th International Comics Festival opened at Belgrade's Student Cultural Centre on Thursday, featuring 292 entries by 325 authors from 33 countries.
This year's guests are Mary and Brian Talbot (UK), Petar Meseldzija (Serbia/The Netherlands) and Helena Klakocar (Croatia), with particular attention to be devoted to the Croatian comics scene.
Serbian Minister Shocked That EU Funds 'Lying' BIRN
Serbian Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic said that it is incredible that the EU was funding media outlets in the region that he says publish lies.
"I think that it is impossible that the EU is funding some media outlets, institutions that are distributing lies, such as the story on Tamnava [mine], which was published by BIRN," he told Serbia's public broadcaster RTS on Thursday.
Turkish film 'Swaying Waterlily' wins in Montreal
Turkish director Seren Yüce's film "Rüzgarda Salınan Nilüfer" (Swaying Waterlily) has won the Best Script Award at the 40th Montreal Film Festival, which ended on Sept. 5.
The Best Film Award went to the Croatia, Macedonia, Czech Republic and Slovenia co-production "The Constitution," directed by Rajko Grlic.
9th BELDOCS to kick off on May 12 in Belgrade
BELGRADE - The 9th Beldocs festival will commence with a screening of a domestic movie - 'Chasing a dream' by Mladen Mitrovi?, on May 12th in the Grand hall of Sava center. Croatia TV Axes Satirical Show for 'Intolerance'
Croatian Radio-Television, HRT, on Wednesday axed the satirical show "Montirani proces" ["Framed Process") from the schedule.
The program management of HRT said in a press release that "part of the script mentions content that is inappropriate for broadcasting" and collides with HRT's "mission, values and principles.
